29 January 2008: The Stem Cell Dream

THIS EVENT HAS NOW CONCLUDED

The East of England Stem Cell Network (EESCN) invites you to join the audience of The Stem Cell Dream on Tuesday 29 January 2008 at 8pm at the CRUK Cambridge Research Institute at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. You don’t need to know any science to enjoy this evening of entertaining short films, discussions and interactive voting. The event will be opened by EESCN’s Chairman, Dr Mary Archer, and facilitated by BBC presenter Quentin Cooper.

21 February 2007: The assessment of regenerative medicine and stem cell technologies in Australia

THIS EVENT HAS NOW CONCLUDED

On behalf of EESCN, Jeanette Walker (ERBI) recently co-ordinated a DTI Global Watch Mission to Australia. The aim of the mission was to assess innovative technologies currently under development in Australian research institutes and companies that will enable the future use of stem cells in a range of clinical treatments.

At a conference to be held on 21st February at the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus near Cambridge, the team will be reporting on the 6 key areas they investigated during the mission, including: enabling technologies for stem cell research, stem cell technologies as tools for drug discovery, and the regulatory, legal and social framework for stem cell research in Australia

6 March 2007: Stem cell science, emerging economies and globalisation: legal, policy and regulatory perspectives in China and India

New Hall College, Cambridge

THIS EVENT HAS NOW CONCLUDED

The contribution of the emerging economies of the Asia/Pacific to global stem cell science is growing rapidly. This seminar explores the legal, policy and regulatory strategies being employed by China and India to advance their position as global players in stem cell science. How successful are they likely to be and what are the opportunities and threats for UK stem cell science?
